One point missed. As College athletics moves away from amatuerism, I think


many of these leaders likely recognize that their "tax free" "charitable organization" status will come under scrutiny by the Feds. We've already lost the tax deduction for making donations to athletics if you receive tickets. I believe it only a matter of time with NIL, excessive coaching salaries, # of staff, grandiose facilities that politicians will see the "athletic arm" of a university as a profit making, taxable entity. This alliance might be as much about attempting to keep the status quo financially.
